Small Stone #14

Five inches by one inch
Heavy white paper
I assign myself the task
Of putting labels on the flat files,
In hopes of finding what was in the drawers
Without having to open each drawer
Drawings, paintings and
The name of the series.
I am Scorpio, I am organized

Writer's Island Prompt #3 Courage

"There would be no one to frighten you if you refused to be afraid." Mahandas K. Gandhi

Courage
It is hard to talk about courage,
Without considering fear,
Fear is usually energy outside oneself,
I work each day,
Convincing myself,
I am the one
I can depend on.

But there are always
Circumstances outside myself,
That I do not know.
I think what I fear
Most is the unknown.

Sometimes it is the dark,
Or what maybe waiting
For me in the dark.
Again, it is the unknown,
Situations in which
I am not sure,
How I will respond.

I have found that
That I can be courageous
In my everyday life,
I show up,
I speak the truth,
And I don't worry
About the outcome.
I show myself I am
The one I can count on.

Dear Annell ...
At the risk of repeating myself over and over and over again ... I so enjoy everything you create.

Love the stone, organization is always an attempt, for me. I envy your Scorpioness. And I so agree with what you have written about courage and the one who needs to see that most of all is me. Thank you, Annell.

Wonderfully wise words, Annell. I have had files and labels for a couple of years now, waiting for a similar attack of organization to hit me.......I especially love your words on courage and on realizing we have to count on ourselves, the lesson we learn on this journey home to ourselves.

You've put your finger on it: victory over fear = courage. And I go along with the wish to be organised - but I still have a tottering pile of poems on my desk waiting to be filed!

Annell, I am organized only because my husband is not. Fear of the unknown is hard to deal with. It takes a lot of courage. Well said.
