Saturday January 29, 2011 A River of Stones/Writer's Island

A Small Stone#29

Gathering ideas
Into a basket
Winnowing
To separate
Seed from shaft
Sorting to category
A constant activity
Picking up a single idea
Holding it to the light
Calculating the next step

Prompt % for 2011: Illusion

ILLUSION
Vanishing
Yesterday is erased
Forms come into sharp focus
As they are disappearing

Vanishing
Dissolving
Forming
Dissolving again
All is an illusion,
Reality is but a slight of hand.

Two terrific poems - I love the analogy of winnowing grain with ideas. The Illusion is also very meaningful. Magic is "sleight" of hand - legerdemain in French.

I LOVE your stone. And the word "winnowing". Cool, Annell. Also love the longer poem: "reality is but a sleight of hand." Puts life into perspective:) Well, reading these has made a great start to my day:) Thank you.

nice..that first one is fun...its like gem mining...writing poetry...picking out the goods, erasing the not so...to get there...

Both poems were great. Reality really is just a slight of hand!

I enjoyed these very much. Those choices and sortings, those illusions. These shape who we are.

winnowing our thoughts and words, what an image! and even better a concept. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, sorting this from that, and all with some illusions attached,

Wonderfully written, both of them. To sort out the illusion means moving forward to the realities of being.
