Tuesday February 22, 2011/A Small Stone/ Magpie Tales #54

A Small Stone
The morning creeps quietly
And yet there are strong contrasts
The sky pale, from
Orange to blue
The earth still black
Attached to the night
Symbol of darkness
A time when bad happens
Nightmares and fear

Puzzle of Time

The puzzle pieces
Are scattered
Across the table
Like the moments of a life.

One fits into another
And yet,at first glance
So many
Seem the same

Perhaps it takes
More than a glimpse
To determine
The difference
One from another

Over time
Even important moments
Seem the same
Do we know the difference
What to look for
How can we say

Did that happen last Christmas
Or was it the Christmas before

I think I am talking about the
Moments of time
But is it important
After all, to recognize
Each moment

Instead perhaps time
Is more like a tapestry
No longer its individual parts
Or puzzle pieces
But instead something complete
And whole

The image is so serene and beautiful, Annell, and I love the black land holding onto the night. Love your jigsaw/tapestry reverie..........wonderful!

I think our memories are the tapestry and what is ahead each day is the puzzle. Wonderful Magpie.

Both lovely poems. I like it that our memories together make a whole.

timei think can be appreciated for the moments as well as the trapestry as a whole and the more i try to put the puzzle together the more i realise i can not...

I sure do love that first poem, especially these lines:

The earth still black
Attached to the night

Time as a tapestry..certainly true...the big picture after the fragments! Love the way you "wove" this...

Deep questioning reflections... searching for meaning in moments woven together like a tapestry, solitary pieces joined.

'More like a tapestry' is my favourite line, and really agree, the whole in many ways greater than the sum of the parts. Great post.

Yes, all the moments do come together to form a tapestry. Beautiful thoughts, Annell.

oohh.. I so love your magpie jigsaw, Annell!! I really liked how compared life's moments to the pieces of a puzzle... and how you say that, in the end, what really matters is the complete picture..and just single moments..
A very beautifully laid out poem, my friend..
