November 30, 2013 Sunday Whirl/Writers Digest November PAD Challenge

issue, trouncing, word, depend, insight, road,

crisis, plight, forces, fire, border, thanks

Get the Hell Out of Dodge
The crisis came
In the night
Escape is your
Plight
The road
To recovery
Like any journey
Can be long
Narrow
Winding
Rough or smooth

It all depends on you
The issue at hand
Is defined by
The words spoken
Examination
Leads to insight

Along the way
There will be
Unexpected forces
A fire in the forest
Or some other
Calamity
And you will need the
Proper papers
At the border
Thanks

Note: " Thanks," is what the Border Guard says....if no papers, one must find another route.

Wrtiers Digest  Nov PAD Challenge

For today’s prompt, write a disappearing poem. Simple as that. Just make sure you don’t disappear after the month is over. I’ve got some fun stuff planned for the blog in December, and we’ve got the Wednesday poetry prompts. And eventually, there’s the April PAD Challenge.

The Disappearance
Each day
Arrives
Almost exactly
The same
As the day before
The last of the night
Still dark
The sun
Wakes
Attempts to rise
Over the mountain
The clock in the hall
Ticks away each minute
And tomorrow
You will wonder
About the disappearance

Note:  "The disappearance," of the day before, what happened, where did it go...or sometimes wonder did it happen at all?

I am so intrigued by the ending of that second poem. Excellent job Annell =)

I enjoyed both of them, Annell, but this especially:

It all depends on you
The issue at hand
Is defined by
The words spoken
Examination
Leads to insight

I liked them both, especially the second one! Makes me wonder about what disappeared!

And if you can't produce the proper papers at the border?

Well done! My favorite is the first. So many layers of meaning.

Perhaps the day is lost in our attempts to get the hell out of Dodge..i rue counting down days..sometimes that's the only way to keep up the fight?

I feel the urge to get out, and papers - important...as always (sigh)..~ I love the rhythm in the poem as well as meaning...

Typical border crossing. Show us your papers, then get out. Good job, Annell.

Annell, I love the first poem. I understand little of the border control issue. It seems a waste of time to me.

How terrifying it must be to be running away from fear and come to the border.... of more fear. I can't imagine! Well done!

The two poems are opposites in their way. One dealing with arrivals and the other a disappearance. While the first is clear and the arrival can be turned away however in the other we have no control at the border and the sun will come everyday and night too at their own behest. Border guards are useless.
