January 2, 2014 We Write Poems

We Write Poems  Prompt:  Happy New Year

Happy New Year
The year begins
It is new
I have counted
Seventy two
Each begins with
Happy New Year
Wishes all around
Some wishes
Come true

It probably
Doesn’t
Matter what
A year will
Bring
And if wishes
Come true
For as the
Year ends
The new begins
And it is
Happy New Year
Again

What is new
Becomes old
A cycle
A circle
As the year
Begins
Each will be
Greeted with
Bright
Sunny
Sparkling
Beaming
Smiling
Laughing
Wishes
For a
Happy New Year

Exactly right, Annell. I am relieved the new year is starting. I like the sound of 14 much better than 13:)

smiles...it is much the same....the cycles, the years....each one may have a little different flavor but over the long view it becomes a moment only.....

You've captured the moment as well as the cycle. I've counted 67 and can agree with much of what you express. Happy New Year, Annell,

Elizabeth

I like how the cycle at least begins bright, sparkling full of laughter!
