October 10, 2014 Real Gardens With Imaginary Toads/ Autumn Afternoon

Autumn Afternoon

                                                             sun shines
                                                                                    golden leaves around my feet

the weather has changed                                        i feel the chill

one kick                                                                      they are in the air
                                    falling....falling.....everywhere

snuggle into my sweater                              pull it close

with my heart in my hand                                       i step into the deep end

don’t know where to start                                       all night long

i look for you...call your name

still think you belong to me                                     are my own

wander through the                                     emptiness

like the leaves of gold                                               beneath                                 my

 feet

my heart has lost it’s bright green color                is dried and crinkled

your memories remain                                             a part of me

my heart and yours’                                                 are one

on this autumn afternoon

This is so beautiful, my friend. In the deep end......what crossed my mind reading "still think you belong to me" - he does. You will always be his mother. And I love the ending ."My heart and yours are one." Yes. I can feel that autumn afternoon when I read this poem.

Annell, this is just beautiful. It speaks to my heart and to anyone who has known loss. Your last lines are lovely.

Nightingales were said to sing because the thorn of Philomena pressed against their heart -- and everyone sings the blues sometimes. The wide apart lines suggest an inner division that is reconciled with "on this autumn afternoon." Gently, bittersweetly sung . Very nice. Many folks would envy how you figured out how to break apart the lines using in the text editors of these blogs. - Brendan

I love the natural pauses built in by your spacing. Very cool :)
