Great Expectations

bear hibernates in winter                suggests                            it is a good time

for going inside                              checking in                        on our deepest selves

looking at where we have been      during the past year           spring summer and fall

each year                                        can be seen as a journey     perhaps we begin the year

with a happy swagger                    and great expectations        soon enough

we are overtaken                            by sorrow                            a companion

that comes into every life               yet by some miracle            mysteriously

we find the strength                        to continue                          greet each new day

or we swivel and die                       like spring flowers              so i will follow bear inside

wait for spring                                 when all is shining             and new again

Color Me Blue

in the quiet of my room            i find myself submerged in           thoughts of yesterday

some of these thoughts             are weighted with sorrow              yet i do not allow them

to burden me                             i think of other things                     more immediate

i think about color                     how it vibrates when one color           is next to another

how to change a color                how it can become more red              and still stay blue

or go all the way to purple         i am lost in the ideas about color        almost everything

we see                                        can be identified as a color           variations on a theme

lighter or darker                         brighter or duller                    i look for these vibrations

beneath it all                               other thoughts are still with me    i think of you

I don't think we can help think those thoughts of yesterday, but I do like the idea of (when the sorrowful thoughts appear) thinking of other things such as the vibrancy of color! Lovely poems today, Annell.

I am with bear and will be finishing soon to sleep the long sleep of winter...rest is needed for spring to bloom again....your second verse holds so much truth...we can only distract ourselves for so long before the thoughts we are escaping come back

My name Björn is actually bear, so I have great sympathy with hibernation... but right now I actually long for the real winter of January and February... i hope for skates and skis... but I think also the winter penetrates our soul and impregnate it with sorrow.

I especially love the first poem, like bear going within ourselves for the winter, to sort through the year, the work, the journey. I love the contemplation of colours in the second poem...nice to focus one's mind on, as we set aside worrisome thoughts.

I think we can all do with some hibernation and inward looking time. Good stuff.

Two wonderful pieces which make each other shine brighter and resonate even more..it makes me think that respect, love, remembrance isn't about stopping but rather carrying on - in the best way we can...finding colour and life and having those we love still with us in that creation xo

I like the perspective of hibernation...restoring our senses, and in second even more to dip oneself in the color, its vibrancy...I wish I could do it again one day....Lovely poignant poems
