April 13, 2016 Writer's Digest April PAD Challenge 2016/ Last Time I Saw You

Last Time I Saw You

the last time i saw you      february of last year       everything was new in your life

new job you liked         your baby on the way    together we looked for an apartment

your life ahead of you       in all your life               i have never seen you so happy

i didn't hear from you        at christmas                  or after

it is understandable        when things fell apart      you were devastated

you were just too tender     for this world                   the news came late last night

you were found                  an overdose                 a one way street

you won't be coming back    your mother has feared this           all your life

at least now          she will no longer worry             your gentle ways will be missed

RIP

April 13, 2016

Note:  My nephew died last night, April 12.  He was a gentle soul, starry starry night.

My condolences. I hope your poetry has given you some little comfort. Losing those we love is never easy, no matter how much practice we have.

So sad... sometimes it's like a tender bloom that's killed by frost... and someone yet young. My condolences.

This is exactly how drastic the swings can be ... the immense, overwhelming joy ... and then the pit of despair that you absolutely cannot pull yourself out of. I'm so sorry for your loss, his loss, the family ... the world. So, so sorry.

This pulled my guts and forces me to witness my own trespasses and that is just on the merits of the poem's emotions ... the poem, your style I love to read cross-pollinated-ly ... up and down and diagonally skip a line and still I am fine because there was skill painting here and now ... another gentle soul ... part of the rain ... brightest blessings for the clouds in your sky right now ...

Hi annell. I was reading your poem, another wonderful journey. I am in awe how you write these. I cannot. When I realized what it was about and saw what had happened, I just wanted to reach out to you. You are a special soul to be able to write about it so soon. I'm touched, and thank you. It made me think of something in my family that I have not been able to express. I will be praying for your family.
