Acceptance

oh that is a hard one         you ask me to accept              everything ends

seasons end               summer one long holiday            comes to a close

welcome autumn     the season of color      leaves gracefully fall from the trees

cover the ground in gold       temperatures change           the nights are cool

put another quilt on the bed      stitched with spring flowers       soon enough

snow begins to fall            memories of sleigh bells            family gatherings

evergreen boughs              candles a glow                  aunt blanch's apple cake

the smell of holidays fill the air      cinnamon and spice       gifts under the tree

just when you think        you can stand it no more                        spring appears

tender shoots in new green       the old oak in the front yard     has to be taken down

everything ends            even the ones most precious              ...even us

accept it all                      the plan is drawn                       there is no other course

The hardest acceptance of all...the inevitable and one I still have trouble accepting...beautiful!

Accepting what is, a wise course but one we like to rail against. I really liked this poem, Annell, as always I learn something from - and admire - your life wisdom

there are some things that we just have to accept - not that it feels good or right, but that it is what it is and we have to learn to grow with it or around it...to let the river flow and wash away our sharp edges.

Acceptance.. though difficult at times.. makes us stronger from inside. Beautifully executed.

beautiful words and form, the form that goes on like life itself, we come to learn as time passes that acceptance is what it is all about...bkm

I love the honesty that shines in this poem, Annell. All reasons to live in the moment.

Acceptance is in an art in itself...I love the form to this :)

Acceptance is life's lessons .... We just need to go with the seasons.

Your form certainly supports the content--the inevitable advance of change that, even though it is continuous and encompasses much that seem ordinary, in retrospect has the impression of being a torrent, with the cycle advanced and complete too soon. Fine poem in every respect.

Wonderfully crafted words of wisdom. It is difficult to accept that everything ends, I find it difficult...
Kind regards

The full-circle quality of your excellent poem is like music.

Fascinated to see this not only works when read from left to right, but also when read vertically in three columns!

Such an interesting shape for this poem, and I felt the cycle of life so strongly in the rhythm. I really like this piece.
