December 11, 2016 Sunday's Whirligig #87 -- The Sunday Whirl #277-- Poets United/ The Answer

The Answer

you say it is the answer but what is the question

the question changes the focus changes we change

the morning grey overcast clouds hang low

cover the mountain tops the yellow sun sleeps late

pulls the covers over his head snuggles back into his cozy bed

often life itself seems like a game who will win

who has the momentum who will hit a foul ball

the crack of the bat the ball flies high perhaps it will be you

who catches the ball or perhaps it will be a home run

take all the bases rejoice your reputation is not tarnished

there is no grime on the bus windows your vision clear

no shame you are still sane though a bit unsteady

your instincts will get you through you haven't lost your touch

the wheel spins you pick three you wait

put up your shield close the door look for answers

Sometimes we do wonder, after a while, just what the questions are....as we struggle with the concepts of winning and losing. One thing for sure, we must be ready to put up our shields as we wait for the answers to the questions we are afraid to ask.

I feel its somewhat like a constant race.. the endless search for answers.. but are we really prepared to hear them.. Beautifully penned.

I love the image of the sun pulling to covers over his head, sleeping late. Very cool. I resonate with being still sane but a bit unsteady. Smiles. Loved this one, Annell.

Meanwhile here the sun is up early glimpsing through my bedroom window so early in the morning! As for life's game there have been a few foul balls from me but I am still here...just.

I love each and every line. Each verse a story within itself. A playbook of life. Questions/answers is there ever an answer ...bkm

Interesting poem! I think it is good to keep the questions open and perhaps find many answers – when we think we have found The Answer, it can close us down to further possibilities.

Looking for answers behind closed doors can be a lonely task, but it's a necessary one.

I couldn't stop moving ...the current just kept me going until the end. I thought you wrote this in the right style, without breaks. (which (breaks) also is very effective, I think))
This was good :)

I too have reached the conclusion that it is remembering the question that counts.. or perhaps ignoring it is the best idea!

Really like this Annell, for all the same reasons already stated above by others. Most of all, I like the breathlessness within the form itself. Questions and answers most often make me feel that way,
