Evening Song/dVerse

Evening Song

You tell me to lean in close
You whisper in my ear
A cold wind blows
The day is sunny

Unlike the mo(u)rning which is grey
Or the evening grey-song
The notes you play
Are different shades of grey

Just after sunset
Of glorious color
Wrapped in red
The color of your blood

We harmonize our voices
Sing together the last notes
I hold you close
Yet you are gone

Fire Can Burn Underground/dVerse

Fire Can  Burn Underground

Suddenly, fire on the horizon
Flames leap above the treetops
As the trees explode
Fire  can go under ground
Linger there for years

To reappear somewhere else
It is the same with loss
The feelings can go underground
And years later
Reappear somewhere else

A PROMISE THAT SPRING IS ON THE WAY/ The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #340/ Poets United Poets Pantry

A PROMISE THAT SPRING IS ON THE WAY

Birds in the air and in my hair
Up close and personal
They whisper to me
With their honey coated songs

Birds would fly higher
If it were not for gravity
I do wonder…
How they sit on wires and are not electrified

The blood of your life
Covers the path I walk
The edges hard
My teeth on edge

You bare yourself to me
I am startled
You shake your rattles
It is the crescendo of the day

I wait for the Mexican blue bird’s passing
On that day in April
He will fill each sage brush on the mesa
A promise that spring is on the way
