Grey/ dVerse Haibun Monday

As a visual artist, I have been practicing my craft for over 50 years.  There was a time, my work was colorless, but for the last few years I have been studying Itten's and Josef Alber's ideas about color.

It is my experience, that my work often parallels what is happening in my life.  Perhaps. I am considering color, and I see color everywhere; in the pinks and golds of the sunrise, the fiery yellows, golds, and reds of the sunset,  the subtle blues found in the sky… or in your eyes.

When I am experimenting with all of the greys that are the lower intensities of brighter colors, found on the color wheel, will I see greys everywhere, will it bring "beauty or misery?"

Early morning or late afternoon
Can be filled with beauty or misery
Winter days are often grey

I feel that grey has all the possibilities... maybe it's the canvas of life.

I often miss the colors of someone's eyes. I should pay more attention to that.

I tend to stick to the same colours in my own clothes (mainly black, grey and blue) and designs for knitting, but since I started to knit for my imminent grandson, I've been experimenting more with colour. I started off with a grey sleeping bag with a hood, progressed to a little suit of many colours, and am about to start on a bright yellow blanket with sheep! It's interesting that your work often parallels what's going on in your life too, Annell.

I like that your work parallels your life. Living in the southwest, you must be inundated with so many bright colors! I've been experimenting with "grey" poetry lately - gentle and meditative rather than depressing. I like your use of color and painting in your poetry so very much.

Painting brings an awareness of color. Someone once asked me if I dreamed in color. I can't imagine dreaming any other way!

Grey is also the cover of your beautiful art and poetry book! Nothing more beautiful than the colours to be found in sunrises and sunsets. I must get to more of them this spring and summer.

grey is my new "neutral". The next time I decorate a home, I will be using a lot of grey paint in many different shades. Beautiful poem and I think art and photography is very close to poetry.

a beautiful simplicity pervades this poem.

Color is magic...be it grey or another hue. But it is interesting what we notice, and how different it can be from one day to the next.
