EMPTY POCKETS/The Sunday Whirligig

EMPTY POCKETS

Helter, skelter
Big pile of welter
No beginning
No ending
What to trust
Pure wisdom
Hard to find

A quartz
In the palm of my hand
Picks up signals
Books on bedside table
Each page holds a bookmark

Emptied my pockets
Wiped the windows of the bus
Trust no one
Make no fast moves
Focus on blossoming
Spring flowers

The second daughter
Shakes off the chains
Puts the welter
Into an old Japanese pillow box
Wrapped the contents in tissue
Places it on the shelf
For safe keeping

Welter seems to be passed on. If you add an S it will be hot and might swelter.
