August 30, 2016 dVerse/Words That Rhyme

Words That Rhyme

rhymes             i have few                          they are scarce as morning dew

sometimes       without warning                 they appear from nowhere

settle in            follow me through the day       begin with bacon and eggs

which do not rhyme                   but go together               like a rhyme

i check the time         work until lunch                        a satisfactory munch

then back to work until four           i finish up                  and close the door

i am awkward with rhythms      most of the time        i try to avoid them

find them distracting             instead my focus                   is on the theme

what i want to say          what is on my mind        written down in the nick of time

Cool stream of consciousness rhymes with delightful page & poem spread; as our eyes dance to your spacing, the rhymes hums from within.

I love the spacing in your poetry, drawing me to read it vertically as well ... Like, in the opening it says, "Rhymes sometimes settle in (which do not rhyme)." My mind is spinning, pondering the possibilities in this.

Too, I see, "I have few, without warning, follow me through the day." So now I'm picturing you secretly telling us that people are following you. I wonder what strange world you're mixed up in that's getting you followed. Do you have something they want? Did you do something to make them mad? What do they have planned for you??? Or are they just all in love with you, sniffing your pheromones? :)

"I finish up, most of the time" ... makes me think sometimes either you can't/won't finish it (are you a tease?) or you can't fit it all in every once in a while. :) I know, I know. I'm so bad.

"They appear from nowhere, begin with bacon and eggs." So this goes back to those guys who are following you ... sniffing you out ... to get you to ... "finish up" ... and somehow they think bacon and eggs get you revved up, or they're being nice, buying you breakfast first. :)

"like a rhyme, a satisfactory munch" ... tee hee

What a wonderful spill of rhyming consciousness and stuff packed to throw us off the scent and dispel the claim; you are in fact good with rhymes and these staggered thoughts make this wonderfully inventive to boot.
