Saturday March 19, 2011 A Small Stone
A Small Stone
I select a pencil of my choice
Hb, B, B2, B3 or B4
Letters that denote the
Hardness or softness
Of the graphite
I hold it in my hand
I look carefully
And I attempt to
Interpret what I see
What I do is a mystery
I am drawing
There is a meeting
A knowing
Between pencil and paper
I witness this event

Oh this is very cool. It makes me think about how sculptors always say the animal, or whatever they are sculpting, is already in the stone - with their chisels, they simply are removing what is not needed.Love this stone, Annell. Good one. Love the "knowing" between pencil and paper, and the mystery you are witnessing emerge. Wowzers.
Magic comes from the process of pencil meeting paper - real magic, I see it here.
and that is art...isnt it fun when you the artist are just the witness...i love those moments...
Lovely drawing. The nest is so beautifully detailed.
