Thursday Think Tank #50 Chocolate
Chocolate
Chocolate is just OK
Chocolate is not the beginning
Or end
But there was a chocolate cake
I remember
There used to be a bakery
In a small town
Near by
And their chocolate cake
Was definitely
Worth the drive over
For special occasions
I knew it then
But did not
Know one day
they would close
Their door for good
Move away
And take their chocolate
Cake with them
Now only a memory
On sleepless nights
That lovely chocolate cake
Returns
Turns the knob
Steals in
And takes its' place
Among all of the other
"Very Best" I've known
Not too sweet
Just right
Even Goldie Locks
Would have found it perfect!

smiles.
Believe it or not, the Costco here has the most delightful chocolate cake. It reminds of New York chocolate cakes. Now, I want some. Good one, Annell.

I'm glad you have such a nice memory of that wonderful chocolate cake. You triggered in me some memories of delicious chocolate filled donuts I loved when I was a kid. Now, I think I would find them sickeningly sweet. But, oh, the memory!
Oooooh, made me think of my sister's WICKED chocolate cake recipe, she hasnt made it for a while...maybe I need to plead and whine a little? Your poem made me hungry!
I will climb into that memory and sit at the table in hope of a slice!
Your wonderful poem brings to mind a bakery in my hometown of Danbury, Connecticut. The New York Bakery. Anything worthwhile that ever came out of an oven was there--and no place else. That is, until the Portuguese bakery opened up. Nothing like a good bakery.
Annell,
Isn't it a shame, when something as pleasing to the soul, is removed forever. The joys of a delightful chocolate cake. How very yummy!!!
Nicely written and enough to whet the taste buds too!
Best wishes, Eileen
And how sad that you hadn't thought to ask for the recipe before they closed! (only kidding: they probably wouldn't have given it to you, or would have left out a vital ingredient, as my m-in-law used to do) I have a book full of fabulous chocolate recipes.
You've given us a drooling read - thank you.
