The Hermit Crab's New House
There under the lights
The winds gently blew
You traded shells
Each wanted the best
The biggest
The most beautiful
Sometimes taking
Possession of a new shell
While still holding on
To the old one
You would drag it with you
As you paraded along the glass
Little hermit hardly big enough
To handle the big new
Home you had selected
And yet not willing to give up the old
You wanted it all
Not so different really

Sometimes change does not seem to make sense, but just feels good. Nice poem, Annell.
Awww this is very cute I love the little crab, they really are a lot like us :-P
nature is amazing...indeed - enjoyed your poem
How interesting that all creatures go through that at one time or another. The not fully letting go until something bigger and better comes along. Great learning piece!
Interesting take on the prompt and fascinating photo of the little creature. Enjoyed it.
Oh, don't we want the biggest and most beautiful. Charming morality tale.
what a very real piece...yes, we all find ourselves hermits at some point, or have wanted it all...
nice one- I thought about hermit crabs, but then went a bit differently- lovely poem
LOVE this. so true...
I love it, Annell....especially the "not so different".....
Just like some people...
wanting it all, how very natural for crabs and humans.
I liked your poem.
Wonderful telling poem ... and what a dear little crab!
not so differnt than any of us...wanting it all, so afaird of letting go...how true...bkm
smart take.
your words hit common ground.
Not so different at all. Nice write.
Nice trip inside the hermit's mind. Great reflection.
Vivid piece - so much like we who gather as much as we can haul. :)
Oh, so imaginative and don't we often want the same. Lovely poem.
As mighty as they are strange. Your poem and images capture this well.
I love observations woven into poetry.
This was nice.
... 'perfect' description of the little hermit crab!!!
I know how the little chap might be feeling. I'm always dreaming of the prior houses I've lived in for some reason....!
Ah, the ambition of a hermit crab! Nice.
Solid write.
I love it! I learned something new about the hermit crab - and all of us :)
You wrote well, Annell
