Writer's Island visual prompt
Something Forgotten
Oh gracious me,
Yes I know it
Was but a dream
I had been asked
To perform
And it had been a while
Busy unable to practice
There I was on stage
Ready for the performance
Though unprepared
I realized I had forgotten
Something very important
No pants!
It was the same as another
Reoccurring dream
I came to class as usual
On time no problem
As I looked around the room
I realized everyone else
Had before them
On their desks
Blue books!
Somehow I did not know
The test would be today

I have nightmares like that! I thought you were going to say you'd left your 'cello behind!
I have had those dreams in the past. Finally figured out they were about being afraid of exposing myself to anyone's scrutiny. Once I figured that out, the dreams stopped.
Love your poem Annell, creative urges are often quelled by that fear of exposure.
Elizabeth
PS. Glad to know you as well.
The test dream ~ we've all had it! The first words that came to mind looking at the lovely lady standing at water's edge .... 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread.'
I love these dreams, and the visual prompt is really beautiful. Wow! I saw clouds from up above yesterday, Annell. Pretty awesome!
Beautiful and witty, Annelle!
Gave me a laugh. I can honestly say I've never had that kind of dream. Thank goodness :)
Not easy, this business of being vulnerable!
Gorgeous! Wish I'd written it!
ha does everyone have that pants dream...and the test dream ack...that is the one i have far more often....
Clever ending, Annell. The picture left me pretty uninspired...and I think you are right. It IS a cello. I wrote as if it were a BASS. Too late to change my poem now. LOL.
If you have the body of an angel, why would you need pants?!
wow.
sharp eyes,
aptly stated facts.
enjoyed the imagery.
I agree wholeheartedly with Stafford and second his comment!
