Writers Digest Prompt: Prompt, an anticipation poem

The End of Waiting

it seems so much of life is waiting     often i don't know         for what i wait

still i wait      it is good when we know         have something to look forward to

but more often than not      there is nothing          or we could wait for the next season

or the weekend             or the next holiday                    life seems to stretch

into what seems infinity          of course this isn't true               life is finite

it is up to us to remember       there are only a number of days      months

years                and then it comes to a screeching halt               one day it is over

as surely as we are born          life will run its' course                   then dead

truly dead                                no waking up                                 no return

no more waiting                  this is it                                  what we were all waiting for

Its always right to look forward, to hope, although looking back from time to time reveals so much of what we've left behind. Life will always run its course.
Lovely written piece Annell. Greetings!

The ending is poignant

I see the truth of your words Anell. Even if we don't wait for death, it awaits us. Inevitable. Still, I hope we do more than wait while we're alive.

I am so keenly aware of this, my friend, having spent the last three years waiting, time I can't get back. And the months speed by so fast. Thank God for writing, and for art, something to show for the passing of time.

Surprised that my comment has disappeared - this is a problem I am facing on blogger - wordpress comments are not getting posted. Good that I came back - didn't want you to think not paying visits after hosting the prompt.

I like the form - and I guess this is all we are waiting for.

I loved this theme and the verse you wrote in Rosemary's post is very touching.

Important message in this: Living each moment as if there's no "do-over." Powerful writing, Annell.

Ah, annell, your poem is really inspiring...indeed, we can't afford to wait for something else to come....especially if we were waiting all life...action is required, even one step can change the familiar pattern, you know as in saying: if right step is wrong - go to the left....~ hugs!
