SIGNS
we had not yet learned to read the signs caution
stay to the right
bridge out
no “___s” here
no “___s” here
we were warned and yet we took a
chance
chance
it was our turn we did it our way played the game
hardly noticed the rising water until our feet
were wet
were wet
the path clearly marked signs posted turn right
stop
stop
proceed slowly
don’t feed the animals
time passed quickly sand through the glass who counted
who knew it would all disappear up to our asses
in alligators
in alligators
in small groups the old song rose softly in the air
notes taken string around the finger the number on
the arm
the arm
take your place without fear the chamber
waits
waits
who would be called who wouldn’t read the sign/
”get in line”
”get in line”

Note: Please forgive, I could not line up my first group of signs? It looked OK, yet when I posted it is all out of line?

Love all the street signs you have included... love it.
Thank you Borg...I'm sorry I couldn't line the names of the sign?
I liked that last part about reading the sign and getting in line.
I think not aligning the names makes it even more unique, as I hardly noticed till you pointed it out -it really lends in well with the message of the poem -which I enjoyed reading. Thanks and hope your week is going great!
"We did not notice until our feet were wet". There's a lesson to be learned there. Good read, Annell!
The signs are there to caution. We need to learn to read the sign of our life. Well said.
Many signs, all read well. I enjoyed your poem.
We ignore all the warning signs, both printed and otherwise. We are a strange species. Smiles.
This is so well done!
"Bridge out" is one sign you definitely want to take heed of! Nice take on the prompt, even if the "signs" didn't line up like you wanted. Made sense to me.
