November 9, 2013 Sunday Whirl/Writers Digest Day Nine

Sunday Whirl #134  Prompt: buckle, gain, miss, instant, navigate, grace
visions, humming, drill, dignity, years, stride

Past Impressions

The impression
Of the buckle
Is left upon the skin
Smooth as silk
Takes an instant
To swell
With grace
Leave this image

Years pass....
Visions of yesterday
Forgotten
Stride into a new day
Humming
It will be your gain
What is past
Will not be missed
Navigate your way
With dignity
Stride into your future
Freely

Writer's Digest Day Nine  Prompt:  For today’s prompt, take the phrase “The Other (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Some possible titles may include: “The Other Side of the Story,” “The Other Brother,” “The Other Hand,” or whatever else you concoct. And remember: I really don’t care if you bend or break the prompt in your favor. My prompts are just a starting place.

The Other Day
Not today
But the other day
Not tomorrow
The other day
Always the best day
Either to think about
Or to remember
Always better than this day
Funny how it works
When this day
Is all there is

Love the first one, especially, Annell. And the closing lines of your second poem really bring it home.

Annell, love your wordle and the impression left by the buckle made me pause. I see you are doing the pad. I salute you, it is a tough one for me this time of year. Thanks for the very nice comment this morning, you made me smile.

Love you poems and I like the positive stance of the last stanza of the wordle. Also enjoyed the fun poem after it. Great job!

Good advice and wisdom offered in the first one, and a dose of reality in the second. Wishing you all the best for the November Challenge,

Elizabeth
