Missing
my Mother
I
listen for your voice
I
hear it only in dreams
Not
much to settle for
After
a lifetime of love
You
have vanished
A
Mother disappeared
I
look into the sky and
See
the blue of your eyes
I
call your name
In
hopes of an answer
I
sort through the memories
Perhaps
there is a window
Of
glass where I will see you
I rub
my eyes I strain to see
The
silver threads around my
Heart
attached to yours’
Would
have to be severed
With
an axe
I am
clumsy at letting go

When it comes to parents, especially our mothers, I think all of us are clumsy at letting go...
Perhaps those threads should never let go..when they connect us in a good way they may be like an anchor in a harsh sea..happy mother's day xo
I understand completely... beautifully expressed. Happy Mother's Day!
This is perfect. Looking for the image in the window is my favorite part. Brava, Annell!
What a wonderful ode .. a day to remember (though our mother's day is later) .. My mother is vanishing gradually into dementia.. but she seems to hold together mostly, and I can talk to her...
These lines really touched my heart:
The silver threads around my
Heart attached to yours’
Would have to be severed

beautiful lines and i agree with your last line...
Annell, you will always be bound to her. That is a bond not to be broken. Lovely heartrending write.

Beautifully done, my friend. I especially like the looking into the sky to see her eyes.
A beautiful poem and a tribute to your mother...
Hi Annell,
I see you are still running strong (I suspect we are all clumsy at letting go)
