May 25, 2014 Sunday Whirl/Garden of Sorrow/ Poets United Poetry Pantry #203

Garden of Sorrow
The smile on your face doesn’t fool me
Your hands flutter like tiny birds as you speak
Your voice a squeak like a little mouse
Survey what is before you
You point to the north
Dark clouds roll in over the mountain
And then acknowledge the other directions
And all that is sacred
You laugh out loud
It is as if you are reading the weather report
‘Warning of tornado in Taos county’
Yet you are stuck in the garden
Have taken roots
Rain drops fall upon you
Leave dark splatters on your clothes
Pigeons find shelter in your hair
Someone everywhere is dying
You are crying
Planting tear drops near the wall

Love that image and your words that go with it. There seems to be a bit of whimsy in both, even though there is sadness,

I can clearly see the pigeons nesting in the hair being something else.. and tears and rain mingling like that ... strong depiction of madness Annell

Annell, this poem is very moving. I especially appreciate the pigeons in the hair, the dark clouds rolling in over the mountains, and the beautiful poignant title - Garden of Sorrow. Planting teardrops near the wall is so beautiful. Wonderful work, my friend.
