Proof Positive

no it made no sense at all        someone said                    maybe it was you

maybe her                                she would like to meet us in ny

i made reservations                  it was still months away    i got the big room

an extra bed                             let you know                      you were in japan

then someone                          maybe it was you                maybe it was her

that she wouldn't be coming    then i learned someone i knew      would be in NY

i thought                                   she could sleep in that bed   share the big room

but first                i wanted to ask if it would be OK                      you agreed

that didn't work out...

then she contacted me             said she would come to ny              great 

we had a bed for her                later                                                  you said

 i never made the reservations with her in mind          because 

i asked if my friend                  who would be in ny            could share the room

proof positive                            sometimes you can't win
