April 8, 2014 Writer's Digest/Early Morning/NAPoWriMo/ Something Lost/ Garden of Real Toads/ Some Tiles are Cracked

Prompt: A violent poem or a peaceful poem

Early Morning
I imagine
A peaceful scene
All is quiet
The world is still
Most men and animals sleeping
The sun has not risen
The clock ticks
Quietly in the hall
The world is in
A state of expectation
Of the coming day
Yet....

My rash burns brightly
Has driven me from my bed
Desperately I look
For the ointment
That will relieve the itch
So it is with poison ivy
In the spring or any other season
It grows in abundance
Around my house
If you ignore it
You can get into it by mistake
If you try to get rid of it

It will get you for sure

Something Lost
Each life unique
Each breath gives meaning
Tender be the night

Try to remember
When I saw it last
And where I put it
But no matter how hard I try
It’s resting place remains
Unknown to me

Imaginary Garden of Real Toads  Prompt:  Write about your home.

 Some Tiles are Cracked
About my dwelling
It serves me well
We’ve build
A nest around us
A perfect fit
No baggy trousers here
No room to spare
It holds our love
Gathers heat from the sun
Made of adobe
Made of mud
Sits atop the mesa
The wind blows down
From mountain top
A little worn
Around the edges
Just like us
A place of rest
A place of peace
A place of creativity
No need to leave
A place I like to be

April 7, 2014 Writers Digest/ An Artist's Self Portrait/NaPOWRIMO/ The Bowman and the Maiden

An Artist’s Self Portrait

In statue I am not tall
Not dark
Not young
Not male
I work everyday
It is not a question
It is what I do
I always have a ready
Smile for you
You will think
When you step
Into the studio
I was just waiting
For your return
......So be it

I am quiet
Lost in concentration
A hermit
Living in gratitude
I am my own counsel
I investigate what
Interests me
Though I value
What you see
What you think
I follow my own path
From seashore to
Desert shelter
Stickers in my feet
Brush in hand
Eyes open in wonder
Gather colors
Red, yellow and blue
And use them to
Share my world with you...
Will you know me

New Wordle List
Meaning, hurl, listener, rattle, pluck, taut, clenched, music, tender, unique
The Bowman and the Maiden
In the air
Music so tender
Eyes awash
The scent of lilac blooms
The color lavender

Heavy in the trees
Spring is here
The bowman draws
The string taut
Releases the arrow
Hurled through the air
Hits the bulls eye square
Maiden fair
Smiles in his direction

Offers token

For luck

April 6, 2014 NAPOWRIMO/ My Lover and I/ Writer's Digest/Nightlife/ The Sunday Whirl/ Spring Snow/ Poets Pantry #196

NAPOWRIMO Prompt:

My Lover and I

Today we walk through the gap
No longer an ordinary day
Today we tilt against windmills
My lover and I

It is spring
Dreams pulsate
We gather twigs
Build a nest around us
Soon... our bodies will part
My lover and I

Tomorrow we are still
Tied together
With a knot
A lovers knot
Out of view
Just out of reach
My lover and I

Day 6, Writer’s Digest

Prompt:  A night poem

Nightlife

Hard to know exactly
About the night
It gets dark
The sun disappears
From view
Moon and stars come out
Sparkle down
All is shadow
Curl up to rest
Enter the world of mystery
Everyone does it
Some better than others
Yet there are still
So many questions
In that land of nod
Where is it
Creatures incredible
I go there every night
Slip through the gap
Citizen of another world
I dream of you

The Sunday Whirl

Spring Snow
Like diamonds
The night-fallen snow
Sparkles
In the light
Of morning
All is covered
With a light dusting
A barrier
Sound is suspended
Magical new world
Transformed briefly
In spring time
