YOU HAVE EATEN ALL HOPE/dVerse

YOU HAVE EATEN ALL HOPE

I have given up
Lost all hope
I realize I cannot
Change another
It is not up to me
I have tried too long

I thought at first
There must be a misunderstanding
And if only
Corrections could be made
All would be OK

But you have convinced me
It cannot be
Perhaps there was no misunderstanding
Instead you, birds of prey
Perched high above
Fell upon the unsuspecting
And devoured it from head to toe

Still it is life
Two against one
Two more strong
Than the other
You have eaten all hope
Your tummies full
Sing your songs to each other

I will not try again
For now it is clear
There are no wrongs to right
You meant what you said
You said what you meant
There was no misunderstanding.

A WORLD TURNED UPSDIE DOWN/sunday's whirligig

 A WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN

From the second story window
A chair fell
Striking no one…this time
Yes, it has happened before
On the city street
Other things have fallen

Once a bed came sailing
Out the window
Falling onto a truck
Parked at the curb
It happens almost every month
There seems to be no reason to protest

The king reigns the country
And when the king does it
It is not against the law
Houses in a row
People sit in front of their TV’s
Afraid to come outside
There may not be enough money
In the world to fix what ails us

Sunday’s Whirligig

THE RACE/The Sunday Whirl Wordle #354 --Poets United

THE RACE

First chance
Last chance
Race run
To be won…
Or lost
Make the finish line
Even if you have to crawl

Cycle your heart out
Peddle until your legs burn
Give life your best shot
Show up
There may be another race
But there will be no going back
It’s now or never

Swim the English Channel
Swim as you have never
Swam before
Winning isn’t everything
But it beats losing

WHAT TIME IS IT?/imaginary gardens with real toads

Clock of the Académie Française, Paris
Andre Kertesz (1932)

WHAT TIME IS IT?

What time is it?
I look at the face of the clock
Having satisfied my question
I wonder who is looking
And is there someone looking back at me

Hung high above the side street
We stroll hand in hand
Lovers once
Up close the years show in your face
Like the numbers on the face of the clock
There is no going back

Life is a one way street
Like the flow of the river
That flow is south
Through the dry desert
Even goes underground
Perhaps even forgets

I glance at the clock again
Time has run out
Sand in the hour glass
Only runs one way
Fun to see you once again
Sometimes old memories
Remain forever

WHITE IS A FEELING/ Verse Escape 55

WHITE IS A FEELING

It all seemed so simple
Someone misunderstood
Response “out of order”
Belonged in another conversation
Didn’t go with last words spoken
Does the word “crazy” come to mind

So let’s see what it could have been
“Mary had a little lamb”
Words are just words
Lines drawn
Ink on white paper
White is a feeling
