April 9, 2016 Writer's Digest April PAD Challenge 2016/ A Hide Out

A Hide Out

a hide out         puts me in mind of my childhood           i liked to hide out

in a tree in the summer      it was always cool         climbing in the branches

cool breezes     moved through the limbs                and would find me there

the leaves rustled      i would curl in the fork of the tree           take a nap

lost from the world             from my perch                  i could observe

all that was going on in my kingdom      who was out and about

who was playing in the yard

today                      i hide out in my studio              perfect for a hermit

an artist needs time by himself        time for nothing but thought

                                                                                 time to organize

like an outlaw in the old west               i go alone to my hide out

i find the end of the red thread

where i left off yesterday       quietly i go to work              have my own thoughts

do my own work                    far from the madding crowd         i mix my colors

red, yellow and blue       i follow the four steps to creativity               inspiration

incubation                                   execution and                                    judgement

i observe myself at work            i see what i do                    all decisions are mine

It is wonderful to have a retreat all one's own, and to be in command of your hours...lovely. Loved the image of you as a child, perched in a tree.
