Sing-alongs at
the Movie – “Follow the Bouncing Ball” dVerse/ Quadrille #48/ Bounce
As a child, when
we went to the movies, there would be “sing-alongs”. The music filled the theater. A little red ball would appear on the
screen, with the words, “follow the bouncing ball.” Everyone in the theater would sing. Hard to imagine today

Yes! I was hoping someone would go there! I followed, with glee.
Isn't that how karaoke might look like... but probably just a boring color coming on a screen.
I'd love to go to a sound of music sing-along. Wouldn't need a bouncing ball :)
What a fun memory and excellent take on the prompt. Hard to image today, indeed!
Karaoke doesn't compare. Everyone singing at the same time instead of a very few following the changing colors. I loved how the ball would bounce in place over a word so we would know to wait or hold out the note. I loved your take on this! It would be nice if we did have these moments again but alas, they seem to be gone. Although we have a vintage cinema where the huge Wurlitzer rise up out of the floor and songs with the bouncing ball so entice people to join in. Every other Saturday night.
I have a faint recollection of that. Can't recall from where. Thanks for the reminiscence!
Wow, that sounds amazing. Matinees at the movies when I was a kid were always very noisy - a theatre full of young kids - yikes. But every Saturday, off we went with our QUARTER which was what it cost to get in back then. Now it's ten bucks. LOL. Just as noisy. No songs.
I well remember following the bouncing ball! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I remember that bouncing ball.
That would be fun. What a wonderful throw-back to those days annelle!

I don't remember a bouncing ball but I'd love to give it a try - The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, to name but a few. Complete nostalgia saturation - bliss!
Such a delightful memory captured in such few words!💞 Beautifully penned.
Sounds like tons of fun to me. :)
