Transformation of White/poets united poets pantry -- the sunday whirl

Transformation of White

My world, as far as I can see
Dressed in winter white
Snow covered
Long icicles hang from down spouts

The wind wails no more
All is quiet
The storm over
Neither rain nor snow expected

Yesterday, I saw your footprints
In the snow
You, a large white dog
I called your name

You stood your ground
I could not see your movements
And yet you disappeared
Into a white world

The roads glazed with ice
Travel on wheels dangerous
Winter a time of transformed beauty
Tomorrow will depend on the sun's warmth

Hollow/imaginary gardens with real toads

Hollow

Hollow is everything
Hollow is the snow
Hollow is white
A bell without a clapper

Rings hollow
I hear your voice
And it is hollow, too
A hollow man without a heart

I have heard of such a thing
A hollow story of echo
And it echoes back
A hollow sound

I find a shell on the beach
Pick it up
No one home
Hollow is a shell

A hollow shell
Left alone
Hollow is sand
Hollow is my home

The Heart You Gave Me/dVerse

The Heart You Gave Me

On my front door
Hung the heart you gave me
One day the heart broke apart
I’m not sure exactly how It happened

Now it lays waiting
To be glued back to whole
The two pieces lay together
Waiting…

Like the remains of our relationship
The colors of the heart
And blue and white
Blue of the color I think of

When I think of you
And I think of you each day
Though you are far away
Heart and soul need more than glue
To make them whole

While Rome Burns/imaginary gardens with real toads

While Rome Burns

It seems we have been misled
Encouraged to want more
Bigger, better, more, more
We have not been encouraged

To be frugal
To live lightly on this earth
To save what we have
What makes life worth while

How can killing be called a sport
All in the natural world is sacred
What kind of creatures are we
Who do not respect the earth

And all that resides there
Wasteful, throw-away
We are the poulters
Who make it impossible to live here

It seems our brains have atrophied
We have not grown
To meet the challenges
We have created

Our leaders can only point to the “wall”
And the news media follows
While Rome burns
And the US with it

Give Us This Day to Begin Again.../Poets United -- Midweek Motif/ Beginnings

Give Us This Day to Begin Again…

Oh, how tempting
The idea of starting over
No more mistakes
No more sins

The lies erased
Integrity rules
Give us this day
We begin again

We look in the mirror
We have grown old
Can we “be born again”
A baby to hold

I am confused
Where is the beginning
Where to look
Where are we now

Is it the middle
Or closer to the end
And on our last day
Will we be at the beginning

Or is it simply a new way to think
A new attitude
Washed in the sink
Hung out to dry

Is the beginning
Laundry day
All fresh with the scent of sunshine
Give us this day to begin again
