I Begin Again/dVerse/ open link

I Begin Again

I stand at the water’s edge    gather my empty bags          full of all I have lost

I look down the road ahead    and fear further loss               I hold tight

From the earth where I stand            I build my castle         and each wave

That returns to shore             wipes it away                         I begin again

I tell my story to the wind      I sing it’s weary song            it whistles along

My days are full                      I over plan                   I never reach the end of the list

Save something for tomorrow           kick dirt                       begin again

It feels like Sisyphus a bit... sandcastles and boulders on the top of a hill... every day is a new beginning.

I understand about the lists. I never make them because I hate to be reminded of what I have to do. Husband makes dozens of lists and loses half of them and barely makes an inroad on the others. Best to stand by the sea, paddle in the rock pools and start again.

I am struck by the empty bag full of all you have lost. I love that. And yes, each day we begin again. Loved this, Annell.

We just have to take life as it comes. It can be quite stressful otherwise!

I rarely reach the end of my lists either. I like those empty bags full of what is lost.

Every day is a new beginning and I hope your days are filled with only good things.

I'll go along with Sherry... the empty bags full of all you've lost is an awesome bit of poetic misdirection -- the stuff that makes reading poetry surprising and mind-opening. Great.
