The Face in the Mirror
Small pond
Nature’s mirror
Still-water reflecting
Bare branches
The deep blue sky
Echo on the surface of the pond
All the twinkling stars above
The milky way
The face of the moon
All shimmery – shining silver
Occupied the surface of the pond
From edge to edge
They looked into each other’s eyes
With a sideways glance
The moon thought
The face so beautiful
One he had never seen before
Like Narcissus
He was captured by the image
Without knowing the face was his own

Cool wrap up in the end.
Wonderful imagery. And i really like the unexpected ending.
I can imagine this happening, even the thinking it must be someone else. And the clarity of the reflection is beautiful.
This format at your site truly surprised me--I had to come back and b sure it was you!
Love that ending...to possess such beauty and not know it.
Impressive ending. A nice write.

Narcissus image of the moon is so beautifully sketched here.
Love the way you strike a comparison with Narcissus in this!💞 Powerfully written.
I like the idea of the stars echoing on the pond and the reference to Narcissus.
He was captured by the image

Love this kind of ending, annell. It gives a finality with a 'punch-line' effect (something not anticipated by the reader but entertaining)

Love the thought of the moon being captured byt its own image... wonder if the sun realizes that the moon is a mirror too?
I like the reference to Narcissus and the new way of seeing the moon reflected in "nature's mirror."
