Fire Can Burn Underground/dVerse

Fire Can  Burn Underground

Suddenly, fire on the horizon
Flames leap above the treetops
As the trees explode
Fire  can go under ground
Linger there for years

To reappear somewhere else
It is the same with loss
The feelings can go underground
And years later
Reappear somewhere else

A powerful insight beautifully expressed.

Nice comparison of fire and loss.

Oh, yes, the slow burn of grief and loss, fizzling away under the surface, waiting to come at you, full fire.

This is such a great metaphor... thinking grief, love and PTSD

Reading this, and then the one for today, methinks there is a very strong thread of loss here. I had a fairly recent loss in my family and I am surprised how you can go along on an even keel for awhile and then somehow that fire flares up from deep down, precipitated by the least memory.

I love how you express this comparison of underground fire with buried emotions.
