The Sunday Whirl: Out of Sight -- Poets United Poets Pantry

Out of Sight

if wishes were horses       we would all ride    to the party and back

sing a song                     thank the hostess   listen for the sound

of horse’s hooves            on the road home  clippety clop/clippety clop

we escape the merriment           the party is over     long for the peace

and quiet of home           sparkling scenes pushed back     out of sight

I like how you string this out.

If wishes were horses we would all have onr...and ride surely. But i wonder if wishes were that easy how long it would be before the pastures were full of grazing horses...and everyone was walking or in cars again

My Grandma used to say that saying so often, with a wise and knowing look: If wishes were horeses, then beggars would ride! I love it, and the clippety clopping sound of horses' hooves. I, too, when I am out and about, am pleased to think of returning to my quiet, silent peaceful little rooms.

There is something pleasant about going to the party, but it is also a relief to be back home after the party is over!

Oh I would love wishes to be horses and ride them to dawn!

Sigh... if wishes were horses I would probably gallop through dawn!💕 Love the tenderness with which your poem is penned.💕

Nothing like the comfort of home after an evening of party ... even something peaceful about the clippety-clop!

This conveys the comfort we find in 'home sweet home'. No matter how pleasant our 'outings' may be, there is nothing like returning home.

I have Victorian scenes running in my mind right now.

I love the clippety clop of this! If wishes were horses is such a lovely expression.
