Bliss/Imaginary Gardens with real toads

Bliss

Let us talk of bliss
What is it?
It is the center of my life
The core of my being

And what is found there
It is my work
So hard to speak of it
Will you understand

The excitement I feel
A new idea crystalizes
The work begins
This morning

I will mix colors
Though I have them in mind
I need to actually see them
I am excited

Then to paint
To move the brush
To spread the paint
To be alive in the colors

Combined in a unique way
It is not that every idea
Is great
No that is not it

It is to be able to create them
To see them
To share them
My gift of bliss is my great pea-green boat

Was this supposed to be for Haibun Monday? I'm a bit confused.

No Merril you are not the one confused, it is me, I posted to the wrong site. It should have been Imaginary Gardens with Real Toads. I am sorry.

Bliss is such an individual expression. For some, it speaks of quietude and a zen like peace in meditation. For some, it's about movement and energy. And perhaps, for you, as you've asked us to consider - to know and understand, it's about a combination of both.

The act of creation. The moment idea begins to spark and shape and form, in the mind, and perhaps spirit/soul as well - and then the need, to hold it in hand, and act. To take brush to paint, to allow the vision to unfold and work its magic, to birth itself into dimension that we can touch, see and experience. A transcribing of energy in colours and shapes and forms. A moment that is "caught" and yet can't be stilled, even for the "constraints" of canvas or paper. Because energy refuses to hold still, even as we experience it. And so yes, a moment, or many, of Bliss.

thanks for sharing Annell :)

I love how you focus on the actual creation, the way you need to see it done... I can understand the bliss in that.

How wonderful to have found your bliss. You are gifted, my friend. Others spend a lifetime seeking, and never know the bliss. Blessings and blissings!

Over the years you have shown us many of your beautiful paintings and work in progress. Your unique style is quite mesmerizing and it is obvious how much pleasure you get from your efforts. I wonder whether the progressive change within each painting's design came about initially from an experiment or an accidental formation in the early stages of this form?

Dear Old Egg, what an interesting question. One day in the late 80's, I had grown tired of the images I had been creating. I began a search, and it is through that search, that I understood, what was needed. And slowly through the years, I am always pushing myself, "What else?" and "What if?" In school I had a wonderful teacher, and it was he who said, only one composition is needed. But still, what else can I do, and how can I do it differently. Thanks so much for your comment.

Yes, you are right, Bjorn, "the actual creation, so hard to put into words, what is it, what does it mean, is it the statement I intended? The visual language is so much like poetry.
