Blue Enameled Egg/ dVerse

Blue Enameled Egg
Your hair wrapped round my finger

Around and around
Create a nest
Placed within an enameled egg
Blue the color of your eyes
The color of sunrise
I hold you close
Never forget
I wear it around my neck
It lays upon my chest

The lock of hair... I can just imagine the story of a child....no more.

That is an amazing image, Annell, a nest of a loved one's hair inside an enameled egg. I love that both egg and eyes are blue. I watched The Illusionist again over the weekend; the Duchess had an unusual locket that played a crucial role in the plot.

I like the image of the nest within the egg. A place of love and comfort forever contained.

Such a sad and beautiful poem. I picture the hair of a lover who died. Of course I am not child oriented so I would imagine a lover or parent or sibling. Perfect poem full of longing and loss.

I like the idea of keeping someone close around one's neck.

There's a lot of poignant imagery in this, Annell. Eggs break and nests are emptied. Keep the memento close to your heart.

What a beautiful image - a nest of coiled hair, an egg the colour of someone's eyes, the closeness of nest and egg, and the transience of that closeness. Beautiful.

This is beautiful in its poignancy.

So sad, yet beautiful in it's telling.

How sweet, annelle! If it is from a loved one it rightfully stays there!

This makes me think of a locket, in the shape of an egg.....the kind of locket that holds something. In this case, the coiled hair...perhaps the first cut hair of a baby? A lover? And the person wearing it, having that remembrance close to the heart. Beautiful imagery here.
