Super Woman!/ dVerse

Super Woman!

It is said
In order to survive this culture
To more than just exist
One has to have super powers

One must be able to fly
To jump tall buildings in one bound
To swim the oceans wide
To dance on the desert sands

One must be able to keep her head above water
To resist being dragged deep down to a watery grave
One must be able to communicate to all
In whatever language that is needed

…Or without words
Simply signs and symbols
One must be able to keep the heart open
Yet, dodge arrows meant to kill

You come to me with an open heart
You protect us with your shield of super powers
You survive and you thrive
You are Super Woman!

I like these lines: "One must be able to keep the heart open
Yet, dodge arrows meant to kill"

I love the parallelism in this. Yes, survival can seem like a superpower with all going seemingly against us. I get overwhelmed when I think about it. So my Superwoman is God and just try to rest in that.

'One must be able to fly

One must be able to keep her head above water'

all of this is true but I think it is more important that
'One must be able to keep the heart open',
which we seem to be doing in our poetry.

This is a beautiful ode...and I'd like to claim it for all women. Powerful stuff.

I think this is the power to listen, really very important.

I think it is a very maternal. I will always be eternally glad for all the women who have been superwomen in life and hope that I can pass some of the magic on.
