"YOU"/ dVerse Open Link Night

“YOU”

While hanging from the rafters
I am thinking
Thinking of you
Precious memories

Sometimes we might wonder
Why are we here today
You have only to ask
Someone who loves you

They will say
You fill a hole
Empty without you
No one else can fill

And the sorrow that will be shown
The day you go away
We will say it is all complicated
But it is life you see

The same for everyone
Empty without a “you”
In their lives
Empty since you went away

I sometimes wonder if the void that someone leaves is heavier than anything else.

This speaks to me...because lost my grandpa & mother-in-law last year.
Next month will be 1 year since the loss of my family.

The void in my heart does wonder of the heavy burden and sadness I carry.

Beautifully well written.

The hole that only you can fill—it sounds negative, but it isn't. It's making a whole out of emptiness. I do like this one.

This makes me want to cry. We went to my in-laws tonight and my mother in law is 89 today, my father in law is in his final year and I looked at the familiar things in the house and felt that that the life and light that shines in then is because of the people they belong to and when they are gone these things will somehow also be renedered lifeless. That void. XXXX

I liked that last stanza, empty without the "you".

Yes, each person leaves an absence only they can fill. Sigh.

emptiness - sometimes that is what it feels like when one we loved has left. But hopefully memories will soon fill it up a bit.
