The Best is Yet To Come/poets united midweek motif/Age

The Best Is Yet To Come

Somethings are better with age
A man
Who has the secret
He is interested in you

A woman
Sweet and true
Takes her time
Thinks before she speaks

It is not to say
She doesn’t say what is on her mind
It is said in a gentle way
Youth doesn’t age well

It disappears before you know it
Best to put away childishnish
Be the person you were meant to be
It only comes with age

"Youth doesn’t age well" is insightful in this context. I'm finding letting go of poses one of the most positive things about aging, stirred in together with kindness which is often gentle.

It is true, we become ever more ourselves as we age. And can be much gentler in speech, since we understand a great deal more than we did when we offered our youthful opinions. Love this poem, Annell.

Nothing can be truer than this.

be the person you were meant to be... that is so profound.. I wake up every morning to a george eliot quote on my desk: it is never too late to be what you might have been. Love that thought.

We definitely become more comfortable in ourselves and accept our lot as we get older. Solid advice, Annell: 'Be the person you were meant to be / It only comes with age'.

I think artists are advantaged when it comes to ageing because their lives don't change dramatically when they get old.Their life styles remains the same.
