the Secret ingredient of Friendship/dVerse

The Secret Ingredient of Friendship

What is it about a friendship
That lasts for years
Why with one and not another
Why do we like to have one close

Is it the way one looks
The way one acts
Or is it just that I know your name
What is it about you

That in your presence
I feel all warm and fuzzy
Hours fly by
Our conversation is never finished

Over the years it continues
Always starting where we left off
The distance between us is wide
Yet you are always in my heart

I think trust is the secret ingredient. Separation or time doesn't break it. It is simultaneously breathing, spirit connection distance can never sever.

Susie I am sorry I have tried three times to comment on your wonderful poem about the cardinals. It wouldn't let me? Thanks for your comment.

I think some friendships work like that... it's hard to know how it begins, but it can never end.

This is so lovely........my poet friends from far away perhaps know me better than my at-home people, because they read the writings of my heart.

Nice criteria of friendship: "Our conversation is never finished"

I think often on this because I am not good at maintaining friendships. My personal answer is the will of God. If the union, marriage, friendship, any kind of relationship is consecrated to God, then it will last. Of course it is not a one-time deal. That consecration must be conscious and on-going.

Luckily I have friendships that have lasted scores of years; schoolmates, workmates and relatives and friends all over the world. I think the secret is not being in competition with them!

There is a magic that puts friends in sync. I don’t think you can separate out one thing. Beautiful, Annell.

A very warm, aware posting! I'd like to reblog but I don't see how.

I'm smiling at this one....isn't it the truth? With some people, we can be apart for so many years and then see them and it's like we just pick up where we left off. That's a kindred spirit!
