To Write A Poem/imaginary gardens with real toads

To Write a Poem

I take my place
I am prepared
And yet the mind remains blank
How long will it take?
To capture a thought
A thought that will take flight
Like the butterfly
That dips and weaves
And lands so perfectly

Will the doors open
Let the light stream in
With the softness of a kitten
The strength of the bull
Something insightful
Something wise
Something true
Something only, I can say

Oof yes! I've felt like I was on a wild butterfly chase too, when I had the emotions razor sharp in my heart but my brain struggled for the right words. I love that description of the poetic process.

Chasing butterflies - a favorite occupation and of course, never catching them so they can continue to fly. I love your description of the writing process.

What a perfect way of describing the moment right before creation, all that wonder and wanting...
