Days Before Daybreak/imaginary gardens with real toads

Days Before Daybreak

The shades are drawn
The room still dark
Outside the moon hazy
Snow melts slowly
In the days before daybreak
Somewhere between dreams and waking
Robin greets the morning with song
The blue heron spreads his wings
In celebration
End of winter

Daybreak is the best moment to notice the first steps of spring.

My new favorite of yours. The description of between dreaming and waking is perfect for this time of year. But oh! That heron. Glorious. Thank you for posting to my prompt.

Somewhere between dreams and waking...

A perfect capture of a tranquil moment, as the earth turns and seasons change.

Annell, this poem is absolutely delightful, and I can feel the slow melt and creep of light mornings ‘In the days before daybreak / Somewhere between dreams and waking’.

Beautifully described. And as Bjorn says, daybreak is the time of day which matches the Spring season.
