The Turning Point/imaginary gardens with real toads/the turning point

The Turning Point

It is usually in hindsight
That I recognize
I have reached the turning point
And have gone past it

Usually it is outside myself
That it happens
The door opens
And without knowing

I walk through it
Colors are brighter
Sounds are softer
More melodic

Everything tastes brighter
The air is fresher
I am new again
The last turning point
Is behind me

It is not to say
There won’t be another
For who can say
Where each turning point resides

This is a unique way to describe a turning point. I like that moment you capture here: Usually it is outside myself That it happens The door opens... Almost like you move through some profound paradigm shift in the fabric of space and time.

I like how you used the title of the work rather than the picture itself. A truly profound poem you have written and that another turning point awaits.

I think we passes many many turning points... each step is a cross road... but who would ever know which ones that matter.

There is power in recognizing that there will be turning points scattered through life, and that we won't always (if ever) see them coming. The way of thinking (of being) allows us to enjoy the good moments and survive the not so good ones, without fretting to live.

That turning point is always available within us. However sometimes we must be brave to able to make it; but how pleased we are when we do.

I like how the whole poem turns on the title, Annell, and the way that you have evoked that moment, You’re so right about the turning point usually being in hindsight and outside oneself. These lines are so hopeful:
‘It is not to say
There won’t be another
For who can say
Where each turning point resides’.

Ooh, I love how you define these turning points in life — there is a certain wisdom in accepting that we rather realize them in hindsight.
This is quite evocative: "Usually it is outside myself/That it happens/The door opens/And without knowing/I walk through it".

Wonderful use of this prompt, Annell. You used the title to advantage. I like the idea of turning points happening over and over.
